The Commentaria contains secondary sources relating to women’s religious life, activities and patronage. We publish work that can be connected to a particular religious community or individual as well as work that broadens historical perspectives on women’s agency in shaping religious culture in general.

Included are both original articles and those previously published, when permission of the author and publisher have been obtained.  Monastic Matrix has found publishers increasingly willing to allow electronic publication of scholarly work in both the pre- and post publication stage.  Previously published articles may appear with a link to the publisher’s or journal’s web site. We can include tables of contents of the entire volume from which an article is taken.  We will also link to the author’s own web page. Inquiries may be addressed to the editors.
